When charging your electric car at home the cost will depend on your energy provider and the rates they charge.
If you’re paying 0.28c per kWh (an average price during peak periods within Victoria) it will cost you $2.80 (10kW x 0.28) to charge it enough to travel 100km. For example the Nissan LEAF claims to have a driving range of up to 400 kms, which means a full charge will cost you $11.20 ($2.80 x 4). (Source - Whichcar)
sonnenDrive subscribers power their electric car with solar power from their sonnenBatterie for an efficient, clean and sustainable mobility solution.
While there are some public charging stations, like the NRMA, which offer free charging, however most public charging stations will cost money.
Generally speaking, most public DC fast charging is priced per kilowatt-hour (kWh) consumed and it usually costs around 40 cents/kWh via providers like Chargefox. Payment is automatically taken from the credit card you supplied when signing up for the app. So for a Nissan LEAF with a 40kWh battery, that's $16 for a full charge from zero percent battery.
